Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting
EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and pre-schools built before 1978 have their firm certified by Georgia EPD for work conducted in Georgia, use certified renovators who are trained by EPD-approved training providers and follow lead-safe work practices.
The RRP class will cover the following:
Why should I be concerned about lead paint?
Regulations
Before beginning work
Contain dust during work
Cleaning activities and checking your work
Recordkeeping
Training non-certified renovation workers
Hands-on Activities to clearly demonstrate how to set up job
Examine at the end of the day. Students must score at least 70% to receive certification
The class is scheduled from 8:00am-5:00pm. There will be a break for lunch.
Please keep in mind that taking the training class is only Step 1. Students must register with GA EPD and pay a fee for registration. The company must also be registered with GA EPD and registration fee paid. Please visit http://epd.georgia.gov/lead-based-paint-technical-guidance for additional details.
Fees per student: $250 for AAHBA Members; $300 for non-members
Must have at least 4 students to hold class.
Lecture and exam are not limited to the number of students, but the hands on activity is limited to 8 at one time. If the class has more than 8 attendees, we can plan to stay later to accommodate 8 students at a time for hands on activity or schedule for another day.
Attendees must have government issued photo identification to take class.
